The 2025 Week 9 Restoration Works
Week 9 is really our clean and pack up week, however the last Sunday of the program falls into this week, and within the last couple of opening hours on Sunday we had a huge group of motorcyclists descend on the Bakery. They were on a touring holiday in the region, and the timing meant that they arrived near closing time and most of the bakery food had already sold out. Kerry had some warning of the visit to headed outside with several freshly baked loaves of bread, butter, vegemite and jam and it was devoured quickly by the hungry bikers. They left Farina with full bellies and some good memories of Farina.
Well, at 4pm on Sunday 20th it was time to close the Bakery for the last time this season. In a ceremonial closing, Kerry and Tamara took in the signs and locked the doors.
It was the start of a number of “lasts” for the season, with the gathering around the campfire to celebrate the last Happy Hour and plan the clean up activities for the next day. The meeting was closed to the sound of the bagpipes at dusk.
As this was the last day that most people would be around, Breakfast was laid on at the Cafe to ensure everyone had plenty of energy for the the cleaning and packing.
After a hard day of cleaning and packing, the weekly dinner was then held on Monday night at Patterson’s House. Bill and Tamara ran the last meeting of the group.
With the bulk of the clean up finished on Monday, there were just a few things to pack away and finalise on Tuesday so a very small fireside happy hour was hosted by Rob and Jane. We all said our farewells and everyone went their separate ways the next morning.
