The 2025 Week 0 Restoration Works
The first of the volunteers to arrive on site were Gerry and Maria, who immediately set to work on a repair to the entry door Lintel to the Underground Oven. This work needed to be done while nobody else needed to use the oven.
Bill and Janet arrived shortly after and lit the Underground Oven to start the slow process of getting it up to temperature.
Then the rest of the crew arrived and got stuck into the many tasks need to get the Farina operation set for the season.
Kerry, our Head Baker, arrived early in the week and immediately supervised the bakery cleaning and then organised the first of the baking for the season in the leadup to opening day, Saturday 24th May.
Of course the operation of the Bakery couldn’t happen without the ingredients, so one of the early jobs was to unload the pallets of flour and other supplies.
Kevin does a fantastic job of unloading with his loader and placing the pallets into Tom’s shed ready for sorting and storage.
The other main operation in Patterson’s House is the merchandise stand, which takes a lot of work before the season to prepare for.
Once everything arrives on site, Ernie our merchandise coordinator rallies the team to get everything ready for opening day.
After a mornings hard work of course its time for morning tea, and having a Bakery on hand means some delicious snacks.
The SA Quality Sheds team were on-site setting out and pouring the footings for the new Goods Shed. They’ll return in Week 1 to put up the shed.
