The 2024 Week 7 Restoration Works

To document the activities of the Farina Restoration Group (FRG) each week during our 8 week programme in 2024 we have chosen to ask for contributions of stories and photos from Volunteers and Visitors. We hope you enjoy looking at the activities and events through the eyes of our volunteers and visitors.

Here’s a collage of some great photos from Peter Knight. Between Week’s 6 and 7 we had around 41mm of rain, closing the bakery for 1 day. The traffic was then quiet for several days as most unpaved roads in the area were closed to traffic.

Here’s my story of my first couple of days experience in the police station. (Based on a popular reality TV show.)

Day 2

Another 6.30am wake up to a chilly but cloudless morning.

Stirring around the van having breakfast, we hear the weather update from Kerry over the UHF.  Another beautiful day on the cards.

A leisurely stroll through the scrub preparing for another gruelling day with the other stonies at the police station.

Caught up with my partner Peter and planned the days work in room 1, the kitchen.

As a side note, both Peter and I are experts on interior design and part time influencers. We only joined this project to build-up our social media followers and for the national exposure (15 minutes of fame).

Early in the day, we received a visit from Scotty Cam (Bill) who provided us with a few words of encouragement before leaving, probably to go and purchase another vineyard.

We required the services from the site foreman Keith (Allan) to guide us on the finer skills of bricklaying.  We would have asked Dan (Damian) but he was busy over at the post office.

Catering for smoke’o’ was provided by our preferred sponsors Patterson House Catering.  As always, Kerry and his team provided an awesome selection of food and cakes.

Back in room 1, Peter and I had a go laying bricks in the fireplace.  The structural integratory is questionable (a bit dodgy) but should pass the inspection from Keith (Allan) and Dan (Damian).

Getting close to room reveal day and we’re starting to panic.  We have gone over budget on the kitchen fixtures and entertainment system.

However I reckon Shaynna (Tamara), Neale (David) and Darren (Barry) will appreciate our rustic approach during the judging.

Shelly (CJ) provided us with a few good tips on accessorising the room.

We’re hoping for a clean sweep (10/10) from the judges to beat the other contestants on reveal night and win the all expenses paid trip to Marree.

Stay tuned on all the socials for updates.

Cheers

Nifty and Peter.
